Time To Dive's 20th Anniversary: started

After 20 years in the dive industry, we started on the 27th of august with the celebrations of this long period in dive civilisation.
Why did we 'survive' this long or rather go on, keep on going?
Understand 1 thing quite well about Time To Dive: when I started the business, my priority was to be able to enjoy more of the diving possbilities out there, as a result of my work and so, In 20 years, i still do so. My work keeps me inside the diving community, listening to the lastest 'new discovered dive sites', so i can pack my bags and just go & dive them.
Recently, i visited a new location in South Africa where i had the chance to dive with 7-gill sharks, a prehistoric shark, only recently discovered. Not just 1, there were dozens of them, i a small colony living inside a shallow bay very close to Cape Town. Obviously in a place where everyone was too busy looking for the great white and never paid attention to these wonderfull sharks, by the way, not that either...starting at 6ft and more...

But it made me realise 1 thing, while some of us are so busy looking for the "big things", we often do not see the beautifull things in our eye-corners or the enormous opportunities offered closed to us...

During the past week, i took my complete family on a diving holiday, we used our live aboard, the M/Y AML HAYATY, positioned in the Red Sea to go out and enjoy a week of fine diving, but also lots more...spending time together as a family on a 100ft boat, 1 week, gives you a lot of quality time, because in 20years, how much time do you spend with your family?

My brother, being also inside the Time To Dive company, has 2 children (9-7) who also dive.
My sister, who met her husband during his divingclasses with me, has also 2 children (6-8) who dive alswell as both of them.

So, 11 persons diving in the family, a boatload full, i would say, i decided to take them there, where my professional story started about 20 years ago, in the Red Sea.
These days, things changed a lot out there, but also everywhere in the world. In Egypt, they discovered 'laws and regulations', in other countries 'crississes' and the world discovered 'only just bad things'???
In 2O years, I discovered the world and it beautifull oceans and up to today, i still discover more and more.
While travelling, i always open up to new ideas and possiblities and when i come home, i am full of energy for new projects, implementing new things in the Time To Dive business, things i saw in nature, things i learned through new cultures, things i resealised when looking at my own business as an outstander, taking some distance...

It is a necessary step to take, just get out and dive, relax and look how to improve your business, lifestyle and life quality.
I am sure that i will follow this path for the next 20 years, always improving and looking what is out there...

Time To Dive's 20th Anniversary

After starting the blog about 1year ago, I never gotten back to the point to use it to the purpose it was intended to be: giving consulting information for those outthere sharing the same business as I have: the underwater world or dive centre business.
When you look at www.timetodive.net or log on in facebook, you can have a better look on what operation i run and where my information/expertise is coming from.
The meaning of this blog is to give out pointers and tips to help you increase your business...Now remember, my bases of operation in Belgium, meaning my shops, centres etc, although my playground is the 70% water coverage of this planet.
During the past 20 years, i managed different projects, lived in many (tropical) countries near the ocean and was diving in all the world's oceans and seas...and...never got enough...
Still up to today, i use my job, my daily work to achieve things i would never have been doing when i would have choosen for a regular job (believe, i had...police-officer f.e.)
So, my primary motivation was and is still the dive around the world, taking people into this great adventure and now making my experience availeble to others...
Why? because we all need to work together to create a better position for that what brings us together: scuba diving!

Recently, we started a kids diving project in which we allow very young kids (5y and +) to take their first 'steps' in the underwater world...a lot of things came up into this new world:
to them, the swimming pool is a 'wet' playground...with a maximum depth of 1,5mtr (5ft), they are placed in the perfect situation to enjoy a lot of things without any danger (as long as there is supervison).
The pool being very warm (30°C minimum) gives a unique oppurtunity to involve the kids into the diving world of adults...even organising special acitivities is possible.
In this way, we organised night diving (black out the windows of the pool), boat diving (inflatable boat with electric engine) and even 'wave diving' by using a wave generated pool for a special kids diving day...all this prepares our young ones to a more succesfull career in the diving world...as they grow older, they get more possibilities (and less accidents???)
To the point of equipment, manufacturers have more then enough suitable equipment for kids on the market, so, there is no problem to 'dress' them properly without using to big tanks, too heavy weights and so much bad 'adults' things more...remember, they are only kids, still growing, fragile but not afraid to learn and to experience new things...

Succesfull? What do you think...Involving young kids in a new world will also give the parents a lot of extra family fun, quality time in a stressfree envirronnement where even the slightest 'competition' doen NOT exist...isn't that nice in a world full of competition today...

start up of the blog

Hi guys,

as we face new technologies on a day-day bases, we have to use these in our advantage...
As you (might) know, Time To Dive (look at www.timetodive.net) is always being very creative in using the different possibilities in contact mediums to send the message of diving...
Well, this blog is the start of a new way of communicating with all divers 'outthere'...
The existing Time To Dive-community in Belgium and Europe is a very international one... Only in Belgium, we offer our diving-services already to more then 15 nationality's...
(on our last liveaboard trip in the Red Sea, mid november 08, we had 10 nationality's amongst 15 participants)
So, to service the many differences, i decided to create this blog and use the english language BUT...
do not hesitate to use any other language...if nessecary, i will translate your reaction, story, comment or article...
I really hope, this blog will create a open door for you all...use, do not abuse it...
personally, i will open a travelcommentary, so i will write down all the nice travels we do (and pictures aswell) and so you can somment on them aswell feel free to ask any information (diving related) of any (dive) destination in the world...
Let's start and just DO IT....Enjoy your life, DIVE!
